Welcome to Greater Brunswick Charter School (GBCS).
We are a public charter school of choice serving students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Eligibility
GBCS is open to all students from New Brunswick, Highland Park, Edison, and surrounding districts, based on available space.
Enrollment is determined through a random lottery. The following groups receive preference:
- Siblings of current GBCS students
- Residents of New Brunswick, Highland Park, and Edison
No admission test is required.
Kindergarten age requirements follow each district’s cut‑off date. Please check your home district’s Board of Education. Examples include:
- New Brunswick: October 15
- Highland Park: October 1
- Edison: October 1
Application Window
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year will be accepted from:
September 25, 2025 - February 22, 2026
Important notes:
- Applications submitted after February 22, 2026 will not be included in the lottery, they will be put on the waitlist.
- Applications apply only to the school year selected and do not carry over.
- Only one application per student is allowed; duplicates will be withdrawn.
- Providing false information may result in removal from the lottery or school.

Lottery Event
The 2026-2027 Admission Lottery will take place on:
Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 5:30 PM
All applications recieved within the application window will be included.
Lottery results will be sent via email and text message on the day of the lottery/ Families will have 24 hours to accept the offer.
Students not selected will be placed on the 2026-2027 Wait List.
If your child is not offered a seat during the 2026–2027 school year, a new application must be submitted for the following year.
